COVID-19 UPDATE 3/13: Though our team remains healthy, we have collectively decided to suspend all NEW slime production while we self-isolate for 14 days. We have chosen to do this to ensure our health and the safety of our customers before we resume the production of any handmade products. Provided we remain healthy at the end of the 14 days, we will RESUME new production on 3/27. Existing sealed stock (produced and jarred prior to March 5) will remain online at 30% off and will ship with a slight delay due to reduced staff. Please select “YES” at checkout if you wish to receive a business card and activator powder with your order. Please read all production descriptions and disclaimers before purchasing.

Slime FAQ

WHAT IS SLIME?

Slime is the glorious, sense tingling end-product that is created by combining PVA (Polyvinyl Acetate, the main ingredient in most non-toxic glues like School Glue, Glue-All, Carpenter's Glue and Wood Glue) and a boron compound, like Borax or Boric Acid. The combination of these two elements causes "cross linking" of the polyvinyl alcohol in PVA, creating the rubbery compound we know as SLIME! Over time, these two elements can unlink, causing your slime to become sticky. This is easily fixed by mixing in more of a boron compound like a borax solution or saline solution. SCIENCE! In recent years, slime has been praised for its calming qualities and is a favorite stress reliever for thousands of adults and children all over the world.

IS SLIME SAFE?

YES! I create my slimes under strict sanitary conditions. All of my slimes contain non-toxic PVA glues, skin-safe fragrances and dyes. Because my slimes are not necessarily toys and more of a sensory tool, I do not recommend them for small children under the age of 10. Small pieces in my slimes like beads, glitters and foam are not edible and can pose choking hazards. Responsible slime play tips are printed on every jar of my slime.

I use diluted Borax as my slime activator. I encourage everyone to do their own thorough research on slime and slime activators, but exhaustive scientific research has proven that using heavily diluted borax as a slime activator is perfectly safe--as long as you're not eating bowls of it or exposing open wounds to buckets of it for hours or days at a time. That would be silly and unsafe for your skin and body. The same could be said for most things!

WHY DO I FEEL SO RELAXED WHEN I WATCH SLIME VIDEOS? THIS IS SO WEIRD!

It's a very real phenomenon called "ASMR," or Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response. Reddit has coined it "sounds that feel good." Still others describe it as a tingling sensation that arises from hearing certain sounds. For many, many people, the sights and sounds of slime provide a calming, relaxing, tingling sensation that no one can quite thoroughly explain. I love this article and this website  for more about the ASMR craze on social media.

CAN YOU HELP ME MAKE MY OWN SLIME?

YES! Stay tuned! A recipe page and DIY videos are coming soon!

I'VE HAD MY SLIME A LONG TIME AND IT DOESN'T LOOK OR FEEL LIKE IT DID WHEN I GOT IT. WHAT'S WRONG, AND HOW CAN I FIX IT?

Slime Sticky? Deactivated? Deflated? Slime is not a "forever" product. Its typical lifespan, with excellent care, is 3-6 months, but some slimes can last a year plus! Because slime is made from water, it's normal for it to deflate or dry out, especially if it contains clay! It's also normal for your slime to DEACTIVATE. Keep a bottle of activator stored with your slimes and always test for stickiness with a finger tip before plunging in.
